メッリクリスマスみんなさん!!

8 Things that can be done on Christmas Day in Japan

1. See a Movie
We saw Avatar the movie at the local cinema, it was epic! Luckily we correctly booked the original version with Japanese subtitles, as opposed to the Japanese dub. Phew!
Speaking of going to the cinema in Japan, everyone is so polite! All but one audience member stayed until the lights went up and the credits ended!

 2. Go to Church
Or if your options are limited, visit a Buddhist shrine

3. Go Christmas Shopping
What is the significance of expensive, internationally shipped wrapping paper??

4. Sing Christmas Songs
Karaoke-style of course! We succeeded in singing non-stop Christmas songs for 1.5 hours, despite the limited library. Walking in the Air was a good one, as was Merry Christmas War is Over (pictured).

5. Eat Christmas Dinner
At an English Pub in Meguro. The dinner was the full works: Turkey (the first I've had in Japan), stuffing, brussell sprouts, brocolli, cauliflour, roasties and gravy.
Followed by Christmas pud and ice cream ^_^

6. Drink some bubbly!
Complimentary champagne- yes thank you!
The glasses were placed on a Heineken beer mat- very classy!

 7. Listen to a Brass Band
The Salvation Army in Ikebukuro. I had been taking it for granted how brass bands add to the festive atmosphere..

8. See some Christmas Lights
Here are the Illuminations in Roppongi. This picture was taken from a footbridge to get a good view. There's a blue grass square with moving lights and music creating a story. The Christmas tree was a genuine fir, the only one I've seen in Japan.
